We can no longer issue fuel grants
The council is changing the way they do crisis support from 1 November. This means that we are no longer able to process fuel grants for any clients after 31October.
For 5 years we have processed fuel grants on behalf of foodbank clients in fuel crisis. Over this time we have accessed £536,600 to help people pay their electricity and gas bills enabling families and individuals to keep warm and cook food. But this is now stopping.
The council have said there will be a new Crisis Payment Scheme which will include fuel top ups, discretionary housing payments and assisted purchase scheme for furniture etc. We don’t know how people will access this scheme, but when we know we’ll pass on the information from the council.
